We are Northern Monk Brewing Co., an independent craft brewery based in Leeds, England, deeply rooted in the region’s industrial and brewing heritage, and passionately focused on crafting exceptional beers while building community and collaboration.
Who We Are
Founded in 2013 and operating from our Grade-II-listed home in the Old Flax Store in Holbeck, Leeds, our brewery blends tradition and innovation.
Our aim is to create beers that aren’t just enjoyable, but memorable. Beers that people love, share and return to. We believe in combining the best of monastic brewing principles - care, craft, patience - with a progressive approach to ingredients and technique.
What We Offer
At our core you’ll find a range of high quality beers: from session IPAs to hazy pales, stouts, limited releases and collaborations. Our flagship session IPA, Eternal, is a case in point - low in ABV but big in flavour, designed to refresh and excite. Meanwhile, our award-winning hazy pale ales such as Faith and our broader tribute to flavour-driven brewing are regularly highlighted by beer enthusiasts.
In addition to our cans and bottles, we operate a dynamic taproom and brew-house environment known as the Refectory in Leeds. Here you’ll find a wide array of our beers on tap, along with rotating food vendors, a generous beer garden and an atmosphere designed for enjoyment and discovery.

We believe that beer has the power to bring people together, energise neighbourhoods and inspire creativity. Positioned in Holbeck - a place once at the heart of industrial Leeds and reclaiming this legacy through craft brewing.
We aim to foster community, champion collaborations with artists and fellow breweries, and always push ourselves to explore new flavours and formats.

Visiting & Engagement
We welcome both beer-lovers and newcomers alike. Whether you’re stopping by our Refectory for a relaxed pint in the beer garden, exploring one of our brewery tours, or browsing our online shop, our team is on hand, knowledgeable and enthusiastic. The Refectory is located only around a mile south of Leeds city centre, making it accessible and inviting whether you’re local, in-town for the day, or visiting from further afield.
